Hello from our new apartment! Andrew is being quite the handyman right now, fixing small stuff around the house. I'm surprised at how much he knows about hardware and home improvement. Above all, I'm so excited to be doing this together, our first place to which we arrive as a couple.
It's been almost four days of moving, especially on saturday and sunday...when it rained and rained and there was hurricane-like wind (as there is right now). We had a few friends come help us for a good part of the day, which we really appreciated, and we thanked them by taking them to eat chinese food. I moved mostly small stuff, but don't be fooled. You can count with your two hands the appliances and furniture, while the small stuff is countless, all over the place, a hassle to get together and reorganize. Andrew spent most of friday and saturday at the new apartment, working hard on repairing things, and I walked down four floors from the old apartment and walked up four more to the new one, carrying things like an ant. Still, Andrew and I have worked our asses off 50/50 on this. We make a great team.
We're still adjusting to the new place and we need drapes and the like. But the apartment is bigger and the view is pretty, a significant improvement over seeing another building. Now we see a neighborhood down the road, a bridge that takes to the next town and, far away, two snow-covered volcanoes courtesy of Los Andes. Also, the planes fly by closer on their way to the airport. Can't complain!
